Schematic DuMond diagram for asymmetric diffraction. A polychromatic pencil beam impinging with angle θinc is, after diffraction, sagittally deviated and spread at the same time. The spread is delimited by angles θ1 and θ2. The deviation and spread are not shown to scale. The figure shows the case when the angular acceptance (i.e. the Darwin width for an incident beam) is smaller than that for a symmetric diffraction. The asymmetry angle α is negative here.
