TheX-ray beam passes into the sample chamber as shown by the red arrow and illuminates the sample, and the diffracted X-rays fly through the flight path. The direct beam is blocked at the beam-stop (not shown) and the signals are detected by the CCD. The inset displays the inside of the chamber, but the beam direction is from top to bottom (opposite to that in the main panel) for a clearer view.
