To select an energy both crystals are rotated to the required Bragg angle and the second crystal is translated to the appropriate height h. The detector angle and height are chosen accordingly. The black line shows the X-ray beam path; the horizon is shown with a dashed line. The Si crystals mounted on the beam-tilter are shown in orange.
