Background-subtracted PXRD patterns for all as-prepared and annealed Ca1 (a–c) and Cs1 (d–f) samples; reference for diamond-type Ge (JCPDS No. 4-545) is shown as blue marks at the bottom. `Hex' in the sample name means a suspension in hexane, and `Eth' for ethanol; `Ar' means synthesis with Ar gas protection and `H2Ar' for a mixture of H2 and Ar.
