Bottom: comparison of a 14 mm × 18 mm visible picture (left) with an X-ray image taken in the free propagation mode of the TOMCAT beamline (15 keV, exposure time 80 ms) (Stampanoni et al., 2007). In this acquisition mode, two X-ray effects are visible: attenuation allows character recognition whereas phase contrast enhances the paper fibres. |
