Time-dependent amplitude change of the XANES spectrum of Fe(bpy)3 at 7.125 keV (solid circles with error bars), characteristic for changes in the Fe–N distance in the molecule. The data were fitted by convolution of an exponential rise (with a time constant τ) with a temporal instrument response function (Gaussian). The resulting fit is shown as a red solid line. The fitting parameters are τ = 139 ± 6 fs and Gaussian's standard deviation σ = 34 ± 6.8 fs. The inset shows the instrument response function (dashed line) and the exponential rise time (solid line) resulting from the fitting procedure. |
