Setup of the experiment. The key element of the system, represented in light blue, is a carbon glass mirror reflecting the visible light emitted by the scintillator and letting the X-rays pass through. The distances z = 285 mm and R1 = 885 mm were fixed, whereas the distance d was first set to d = 255 mm and later to d = 510 mm.
