Schematic for the portal tract from the submucosal venous plexus to the main portal vein. H2O2 reacted with catalase to give out O2 gas after it was intestinally absorbed into the submucosal venous plexus of the lower sigmoid colon. The generated O2 bubbles were drained into the inferior mesenteric vein and then to the portal vein. The liver was placed perpendicular to the monochromatic X-rays. |
