All peak shapes are Gaussian except the peak at ∼300 eV, which is an exponential modified Gaussian. The background peak is an empirical ionization step potential. (b) A tilt angle graph produced by QANT when several scans at different angles are chosen to fit simultaneously. In the resulting fit, three peaks which constitute the π* manifold are chosen, and the sum of the areas is fit to the vector symmetry equation 9.16a given by Stöhr (1992BB20).
