Coherent transition radiation (CTR) mechanism: the relativistic electron bunch interacts with a metallic target and generates broadband terahertz radiation with a cylindrical transverse distribution and high divergence. The slight asymmetry is due to the 45° incidence angle of the electron bunch over the metallic screen.
