The top plots show a typical dynamic response (dark gray) of a model sample upon laser-pump. The center plots show the time structure of the femtosecond sliced (red) and the halo background (blue) X-ray pulses. The green line is the sum of both contributions. The bottom plots show the corresponding signals as detected in a model experiment. Clearly, due to the presence of the halo background, the green line shows quantitative and qualitative deviations when directly compared with the sample response function . |
