FEL average spectrum for SASE and HB-SASE for an undulator module length of 1.5 m. The zero of the horizontal axis corresponds to a photon energy of 1.2375 keV. With the HB-SASE the bandwidth is reduced by about a factor of ten. The comparison is made for similar final FEL energies in both cases, corresponding to an undulator beamline of 20 m for the HB-SASE configuration and of about 30 m for the SASE case.
