The volume of the low-density polymer-bubble inside the microsphere grew monotonically as a function of exposure time. After an exposure time of 6000 s the bubble filled essentially the entire volume inside the metal coating. The extrapolation to Vbubble = 0 at negative times gives an estimate of the radiation dose incurred by the preliminary scanning electron microscopy and X-ray alignment steps.
