The Co–Ni–Mo/Al₂O₃ phase analysis by XANES (c) and RIXS (d) shows the presence of stable intermediates until the fully sulfided phase is obtained. In this figure, the oxide phase is indicated in red, while the fully sulfided phase is shown in green. The collection of intermediate cobalt oxysulfide species are indicated by the blue and purple.
