While a large fraction of the beam is attenuated by B4C blocks (a) arranged in a V-shaped layout, the initial material to attenuate the X-ray beam is a diamond disc at an incidence angle of about 2°. A camera setup is used to monitor the fluorescence signal caused by the X-ray beam incident on the diamond.
