Projection of the structure of [(CH[_{3}])[_{4}]N](ClO[_{4}]) at 30 K along the [c] axis. The equilibrium orientation of the ClO4− ions rotates gradually, bringing atom O3 away from the plane of the N atoms (dashed), which would be a mirror plane for the tetragonal [P\overline{4}2_{1}m] space group.
