The triclinic (Xα) and monoclinic (Xβ) polymorphs of nitrofurantoin (Pienaar et al., 1990aBB34). A 180° rotation of the molecules on the right side of the helix (Fig. 6[link]a) perpendicular to the twofold screw axis results in a rearrangement which forms R22(8) dimers in the triclinic unit cell (Fig. 7[link]b).
