The extended structure of (1) exhibits 11-membered iodine rings. S⋯I interactions between these rings and the S1 atoms of the macrocyclic cation lead to the formation of undulating chains comprised of alternating I $[_{11}^{3-}]$ rings and complex cations running along the [101] direction.
