A molecular drawing of (1) showing the atomic arrangement of the trigonal bipyramidally coordinated Ni{N4Br} and crystal-disordered [FeBr4] monocation with 50% probability ellipsoids (Dolomanov et al., 2009BB5). All H atoms are omitted. Atoms Br3–5 of the tetrahedral anion [FeBr4] anion are disordered over two positions; the major component has a site occupancy of 85.5 (2)%.
