Preferential hydrolysis of enantiomeric epoxides by B1EPH2. The assay was performed with the (R)- and (S)-enantiomers of styrene oxide, epichlorohydrin and 1,2-epoxybutane using B1EPH2 as a biocatalyst. (a) 90 µg ml−1 B1EPH2 and 50 mM of both enantiomers of styrene oxide. (b) 1250 µg ml−1 B1EPH2 and 100 mM of both enantiomers of epichlorohydrin. (c) 1250 µg ml−1 B1EPH2 and 100 mM of both enantiomers of 1,2-epoxybutane.
