Schematic illustration of the domain structure of Mex67/NXF1 from H. sapiens, C. thermophilum and S. cerevisiae. Although all three organisms retained the four structural domains (RRM, LRR, NTF2L and UBA), H. sapiens and C. thermophilum had an extended N-terminal region that has been implicated in an auto-regulatory role for NXF1 (Viphakone et al., 2012BB38).
