The crystal structure of brucite, Mg(OH)2, which belongs to space group [P{\overline 3}m1]. Layers of edge-sharing MgO6 octahedra are stacked along the c axis. White circles show hydrogen atoms forming two-dimensional layers on both sides of the layers of MgO6 octahedra.
