Images of the water tapering meniscus (marked with an arrow) and emitted jet surrounded by water (a) and the viscoelastic shell (b). The images were obtained for [Q_{\rm i} = 1] µl min−1 and [Q_{\rm o} = 13] µl min−1 (a) and [Q_{\rm i} = 1.5] µl min−1 and [Q_{\rm o} = 1.75] µl min−1 (b). The mass flow rate was [m^{\prime}_{\rm g} = 18.5] mg min−1 in the two cases. The images show experiments conducted with the nozzle N4.
