Monolithic interferometer. Displacements of the splitter (S), mirror (M1 and M2) and analyser (A) crystals as seen by a neutron entering the splitter at time [t = 0] and traversing the interferometer along the first (blue line) and second (red line) arms. Since the moving crystals drag the neutron and the displacements related to the accelerated diffracting planes — see (1a) — have been omitted, the perceived displacements halt. The dashed (green) line is the interferometer motion. The arrows indicate the motion perceived by the neutron traversing the first arm. The neutron traversing the second arm has a similar perception.
