Overview of all simulated constant-Q cuts at the gap, varying the slit width from 0.5 to 8 cm, which effectively varies the Q resolution. The black error bars are the simulated data and have been fitted with a Gaussian (yellow line), a combined Gaussian plus Voigt in equation (15)[link] (green line) and our approximate convoluted gap function equation (11)[link] (red line). We have also fitted with a fixed value of the energy resolution σE, shown in pink. The coloured squares at zero indicate the fitted gap positions.
