Simulated constant-Q scan through the spin-wave gap with a slit of 5 cm. Data are shown with black error bars and the fitted approximate convoluted gap function is plotted in red, as in Fig. 4(a). The result of replacing the resolutions by the calculated McStas σE and σQ (Table 1[link]) is plotted in pink. Equation (12) is plotted in blue, and here the calculated McStas resolutions are used. The parameters are the same for all plots unless otherwise mentioned.
