Statistical measures of systematic effects and the appropriateness of the propagated uncertainties, based on the mean and standard deviation of the normalized deviations to the six-measurement solutions [equation (15)[link]]. Other than for the shallowest depth, the generally low values for the standard deviations indicate that the propagated peak-fit uncertainties give somewhat conservative estimates of the actual variance. Because the ground truths for the measured strains and stresses are unknown, it is difficult to assign significance to the deviation means significantly greater than zero.
