(Top) Evolution of the Kα satellite intensities from Sier et al. (2024View full citation). (Middle) Evolution of the relative intensity of the Kβ satellite extracted from experimental data after PCA processing. The line shape of the Kβ evolutionary curve is remarkably similar to that of the Kα satellite. Note, however, the relative intensities are consistently a factor of 1.5–2 times lower and the onset appears to be 50–100 eV earlier. The results for Kβ are fitted to three models describing the evolution of quantum probability using the parameters in equation (2)[link]. (Bottom) Residuals of the Kβ satellite. The Thomas model consistently returns the lowest residual to the experimental data. However, evolution of the experimental intensity ratios begins to slow past an incident energy Einc = 7800 eV, which disagrees with the models.
