Amplitudes of the first two principal components of the background centred data. These correspond to linear combinations of the background-subtracted XR-HERFD data weighted by the satellite and noise components defined in Fig. 7. The monotonic increase of the satellite amplitude past an onset around an incident energy Einc = 7200 eV is indicative of many-body process evolution. This begins to slow past 7800 eV, as was observed with an analysis of empirical data in Section 4[link]. The amplitude of the noise component oscillates without any clear pattern around 0, confirming that it does not correspond to any significant or persistent structure.
