An X-ray cryostat suitable for single-crystal diffraction is described. It can be used in the range 10 K-300 K. The temperature may be easily and quickly stabilized. The sample temperature stability is better than 0.1 K all over the range. The crystal is mounted on a goniometer head, adjustable at any temperature from the outside top of the cryostat. The crystal is cooled either by gas flow or by conduction throughout the goniometer head.
