Diamagnetism and thermal motion in rigid-body molecules. Application to biphenyl

The elements of the diamagnetic molecular tensor K are expressed in terms of the librational tensor L of a rigid-body molecule. This formulation is then applied to biphenyl at 293 and 80 K with accurate X-ray data. The calculations of the intrinsic principal molecular susceptibilities from the 293 and 80 K data give similar results.
