Interpenetrating Square Nets in the Hydrogen-Bonded Structure of 4,4'-Sulfonyldiphenol

In the structure of 4,4′-sulfonyldiphenol, O₂S(C₆H₄OH)₂, the molecules are linked into square nets by O—H

O=S hydrogen bonds, with O

O distances of 2.746 (5) and 2.708 (6) Å; pairs of nets are interwoven but there are no significant interactions between adjacent bilayers.
