The title compound, C₇H₉N₅O₄.2H₂O, makes use of the two waters of crystallization to form a hydrogen-bonded network which utilizes all available N—H and O—H groups as hydrogen-bond donors. The shortest intermolecular O—H

O bond is 2.491 (3) Å.
