Two Heteroleptic Cobalt(III) Cyclopentadienyl/Dithiolene Complexes

Crystal structure determinations of (η⁵-cyclopentadienyl)(4,5-dimercapto-1,3-dithiole-2-thionato)cobalt(III), [Co(C₈H₅S₅)], and (η⁵-pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)(4,5-dimercapto-1,3-dithiole-2-thionato) cobalt(II), [Co(C₁₃H₁₅S₅)], show that Cp^* substitution does not significantly modify the geometric features of these complexes, which are characterized by a perpendicular arrangement of the planar Cp or Cp^* and (CoS₂C₂) moieties.
