The title compound, C₅H₆N₅⁺.C₇H₄FO₂⁻.H₂O, is the product of the acid–base reaction of 2-fluorobenzoic acid and adenine in water. A layered structure held together by interionic N—H

O and N—H

N bonds is formed. Water molecules, which link adjacent layers, participate in two O—H

O bonds and one O

H—N bond.
