The title compound, [Sr(C₅H₃O₃)₂], contains six independent formula units linked to form a three-dimensional polymer. The metal cations are eight and nine coordinate and show contacts with the carboxylate and furan O atoms. All the 2-furancarboxylate ligands are tetra or pentadentate, similar to the structure of the corresponding calcium salt.
