An intramolecular N1-H

O hydrogen bond is present in the 8-hydroxyquinolinium cation. An intramolecular hydrogen bond is present in each of the salicylic moieties (between the phenolic OH and the carboxy group). The crystal structure is stabilized by a network of intermolecular N-H

O, O-H

O and C-H

O hydrogen bonds.
