L₃ edge of Ce in CeO₂. The double-peak shape of the edge is mainly due to two transitions: the lower-energy peak is assigned to the 2p → 5d transition with 4f¹L configuration, the higher-energy peak to the 2p → 5d transition with 4f⁰L configuration.
