To demonstrate the possibilities in studying dilute samples, a Ge K-edge EXAFS spectrum on a test sample containing 1 wt% of the same Ge powder in a BN matrix is shown. Clearly, self-absorption effects are present, due to the nature of the sample (pure Ge powder of average grain size ∼1 µm). The total acquisition time is 2 s.
