The conjugated coordinates used in phase-space analysis are shown in the figure, with (x0, θ0) representing either a synchrotron source or a secondary source, and (x3, θ3) the coordinates of a ray at any distance z2 downstream of the optics. (x1, θ1) and (x2, θ2) are the coordinates of a ray at the location of the optical element right before and after, respectively, passing through it.
