Fraunhoffer diffraction pattern of a square aperture (a) and circular aperture (b) as calculated by the ffresnel2d post-processor. A coherent Monte Carlo source of 1024 rays of 1 nm wavelength was sent to illuminate the 4 µm-wide slit. The detector is placed 100 m downstream from the slit. The image on the detector is sampled by 128 × 128 pixels. The SHADOW results of averaging 64 runs (dotted line), from which standard deviations are calculated, have been compared with the analytic theoretical pattern (solid line) with excellent agreement. |
