Partial electron-density maps for (a) A and (b) B sites of magnetite on (0h2h3) in e Å−3. The maps corresponding to the partitioning of f′(E) were synthesized with the Fourier coefficients of [|Fobs(Eon)| − |Fobs(Eoff)|]. In the figures, the A and B sites are located at the positions (1/8,1/8,1/8) and (1/2,1/2,1/2), respectively, and pass through (a) x1 = 1/8 and (b) x1 = 1/2. Contours are at intervals of 0.5 e Å−3. Solid lines indicate positive density including zero, and broken lines indicate negative ones.
