Schematic diagram of charges drifting in the CPG CdZnTe detectors. Q0 is created by γ-ray deposition at the interaction point rk. Then the electrons drift along the electric field line, from point rk to rk+1, rk+2,…, rn, and finally reach the collecting electrodes; likewise, the holes drift from rk to rk–1, rk–2,…, r0, and reach the cathode. O is the original point in space. rj is the vector from O to the point rj on the electric field line. For the electrons, j = k, k + 1,…, n, while, for the holes, j = 0, 1,…, k. The relationship between Qe, Qh and Q0 is shown in equation (7)[link]. The charges totally induced on the collecting electrodes by the movement of Q0 can be obtained by equation (8)[link].
