Illustration of the fit of the background-subtracted GIWAXS data of the reduced catalyst before introducing reactant gas into the micro-reactor with three Pearson VII peak profiles for the Ru(100), (002) and (101) reflections (a) and after the first heating cycle in reactant gas (b), with two additional peak profiles for the RuO2(101) reflection arising from small and large crystallites. The background was approximated by a sixth-order polynomial and has been subtracted in the plots.
