Typical superficial `cat scratch' pattern on a GlidCop® AL-15 test sample (#1) caused by surface grain remnant drop-out. The top left-hand photograph illustrates the visual appearance under normal lighting conditions and the origin of the designation cat scratch. The right-hand image shows a magnified bright-field view. The bottom left-hand image shows a highly magnified cross section through the upper 1.8 mm-long scratch.
