Simulation results for the effect of the grating profile on the diffracted intensity distribution. Three different grating profiles corresponding to rectangular (a), up-side down trapezium (b) and trapezium (c) are compared. The intensity distributions calculated by the FDTD method show that the illumination can be significantly altered by the grating profile.
