Experimental setup for a standard time-resolved XDS experiment. δ is the angle between the direction of propagation of the X-ray beam and the laser polarization axis E; 2θ is the scattering angle, i.e. the angle between the incoming (k) and outgoing (k′) momentum of the X-ray beam; φ is the angle between the projection of the laser polarization and the scattering vector Q = k′k on the detector surface.
