X-ray transmission (note the logarithmic scale) through diamond anvils of thickness between 1.0 and 2.0 mm for the range of energy between 6 and 15 keV calculated from Henke et al. (1993). We consider that the total thickness that the X-rays need to cross is twice the thickness of one anvil. For the anvils employed in our experiments, 1.2 mm thick, the X-rays need to go through a total thickness of 2.4 mm of anvil material (solid line).
