The entire setup is synchronized to the SLS 500 MHz master clock, from which all of the timing and reference signals (marked in red) are derived. (b) Calculated loss of contrast for a TR-STXM image as a function of the frequency of the excitation and of the full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of the X-ray pulses for the setup shown in (a). The contrast was normalized to the contrast visible at a frequency of 10 MHz, and it is assumed that the X-rays are generated exactly at the center of the bunches.
