(a) Three-element false-colour composite elemental map of the Portuguese millipede (Ommatoiulus moreleti) measured with the Maia 384 detector array on XFM. The scan parameters are 5 µm × 5 µm pixel size, 1 ms dwell (5 mm s−1 scan velocity) and 2 h scan time. The zinc-rich sac-shaped ozadenes (stink glands) are present on the lateral side of most of the trunk segments. (b) The corresponding Compton scatter map highlights the overall morphology.
